Crates & Playpens · Guide
What size dog crate do I need?
The right crate lets your dog stand, turn, and lie down — and no more. Oversizing undermines house-training.
Measure your dog
Measure nose-to-tail-base and floor-to-top-of-head, then add a few inches. Buy to the adult size and use a divider for puppies.
Why bigger isn't better
Too much room lets a puppy potty at one end and sleep at the other, slowing house-training. Snug (not cramped) is the goal.
Common sizes
Many medium dogs fit a 36" crate; large dogs a 42"; extra-large a 48". Always confirm against your measurements.
